Diocesan Tuition Assistance-Frequently Asked Questions
[Return to DTA Home]
Who can apply for tuition assistance?
Any family who has financial need regarding their Catholic school tuition obligations can apply. If you are a resident of Cleveland, you may be eligible for a scholarship ("voucher") from the Cleveland Scholarship Tutoring Program (CSTP) offered by the State of Ohio. Note: Cleveland Scholarship Tutoring Program recipients (Vouchers) are not eligible for Diocesan Tuition Assistance at the elementary school level.
Please note that some schools choose not to apply for assistance from the Diocese for their families. They may have you fill out the PSAS form for their own tuition-assistance program.
Which students can be considered for tuition assistance?
Diocesan Tuition Assistance is available to financially needy families with children in kindergarten through grade 12 attending Catholic elementary and high schools within the Diocese of Cleveland. Schools must request that their families be considered. School and parishes also offer aid and may have different requirements.
How can a family apply for tuition assistance?
An independent company called Private School Aid Service (PSAS) does an objective evaluation of a family's financial profile for the Diocese of Cleveland. The school of your choice will have a PSAS application for you (http://www.psas.org). If you do not know which school where you would like to enroll, you can still fill out a PSAS application. Contact your closest Catholic school and ask for a PSAS application. Be sure to provide your name, complete mailing address and home phone. These applications are returned directly to PSAS, not the Diocese of Cleveland or the Office of Catholic Education.
If you need help completing the PSAS form, contact PSAS at 440-892-4272.
