The mission of the Office of Catechetical Services is to provide leadership, direction, and resources for parishes, Catholic schools and Newman Catholic Campus Ministry in the shaping of a unified vision of Catholic identity consistent with the catechetical documents of the Roman Catholic Church.
The Catechetical Consultants provide general consulting services to parishes and Catholic schools on program design for total parish catechesis, text and material selection, parish catechetical leader courses, catechetical methods, volunteer management and recruitment, curriculum, training, and certification needs for principals, catechists and teachers |

New Directions: Catechetical Conference |

 The Office of Catechetical Services will once again sponsor the annual New Directions: Catechetical Conference on August 10th and August 11th at Magnificat High School. As in past years, a variety of courses (suitable for Adult Faith Formation and catechetical certification) will be offered over the 2-day conference. The New Directions web site is now available and contains all of the conference info including online registration.

Plenary Day 2009 will be held on Friday, August 14, 2009 at Lake Catholic High School for all parish catechetical leaders and school principals. Theme for this year's day is Catechetical Leaders: Proclaiming the Word. The day includes liturgy, welcome addresses by Margaret Lyons (Secretary for Education/Superintendent) and Bill Miller (Secretary for Catechetical Services), material pick-up and lunch.  The annual We Are Called Catechetical Conference will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Regina High School in South Euclid from 8am to 1pm. This year the focus of the conference is on current, updated and useful information and resources to assist parish catechists and day school teachers, grades kindergarten through grade 8 in their ministry with children. The theme for this year's Catechetical Sunday is Catechesis and the Proclamation of the Word. In an effort to encourage everyone's participation, many of the materials that had previously only been available for sale, are now obtainable at no cost. You can download many of the resources free of charge at Catechetical Sunday 2009 web site. Currently they are only available in English but a Spanish version is coming soon.
